Setting the stage for success
Armenian culture is as deep as its ancient roots, as rich as its mastery of diverse art forms, and as inventive and ingenious as its people. For this reason, AGBU Arts has become a driving force for developing and showcasing Armenian artists and performers while treating audiences to experiences that reveal the transcendent human spirit in the Armenian context.
AGBU's approach to the arts is multi-faceted. We believe in nurturing and supporting young talents through educational and mentorship support in addition to providing them with opportunities for networking and exposure through performances and showcases. Our local chapters also encourage connection to Armenian heritage through engagement with local choirs, theater groups and dance ensembles. Equally important to AGBU is providing opportunities for Armenian heritage and modern art forms to be integrated and appreciated by the international world. In this realm, we pursue partnerships for events, festivals and exhibitions with major institutions. The exposure of Armenian culture to the world is critical to ensuring our place in ancient and modern history.
AGBU offers financial support as well as mentorship and exposure opportunities for rising artists. Each year we provide a number of arts scholarships to talented young Armenians who might otherwise not have the opportunity to study at a top institution. In addition, mini grants and our Creative Armenia-AGBU Fellowship offer a combination of professional mentorship, financial support and assistance to complete projects and fine tune an artist's image and credentials as they pursue a given field. AGBU organizes an international composition competition and hosts performance and exhibition opportunities around the world to increase exposure of emerging creatives.
Our AGBU Arts Department and Chapters around the world host many events to maximize exposure of our young talents. Highlights include the Performing Artists in Concert at Carnegie Hall for AGBU scholarship recipients and Six Short Films by Armenian Filmmakers at Lincoln Center.
To raise the profile of the rich Armenian culture among broader general audiences, we collaborate with world class institutions on an array of joint projects and complementary programming. Working with institutions like the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Centre Pompidou and the City of Brussels and countless others, we elevate the exposure of Armenia's rich cultural identity to international audiences. We also seek to ensure that Armenian traditions are represented at music and arts festivals and forums that promote diversity and universal themes.
AGBU offers art exploration locally through Chapter and Young Professional Events across the globe. In addition, the AGBU Arts Department runs our annual Musical Armenia Program which offers virtual master classes and lectures as well as in-country discovery of culture through a trip to Armenia.
With the support and generosity of our donors, AGBU is able to provide the community with innovative and engaging programming while investing in the next generation of global leaders. The strength and future of this organization relies on donors who embrace AGBU and invest in our global programs.
